St Mary’s College, Clady Design for Sport 2011

I was approached by pupils and teachers from St Mary’s College, Clady to help sponsor their Design for Sport Project 2011, which I was glad to be a part of.  The concept the young people had come up with was a sports stadium which included a velodrome, stands, top hall with 3G pitch, gym area, changing and toilets area, food halls, bmx and skateboarding areas,  storage, media and conference rooms.

The stadium project was a great success, it received the Pupils Choice Award at the award ceremony, where it was judged by a panel of experts which included local architects.  I felt that this was a very forward looking project, it looked great and worked really well.  I would like to offer my congratulations to all the pupils involved in this project and thanks for having me as a sponsor!!

Tour of the Lower Bann Charity Cycle Success!

The first Community Search and Rescue Tour of Lower Bann Charity Cycle in association with Bicycle Shack took place on Sunday, 17 April 2011 and was a great success.  Over 110 cyclists took part with the youngest cyclist being Matthew McPeake aged 10 years old who completed his first major cycle to a round of applause from the finishing line supporters.

The event was well marshalled by the Community Search and Rescue team who along with Bicycle Shack provided lead cars and also backed up by sweeper van and ambulance service.   Many thanks to all including the tea makers who provided a great tea at the end of a very warm cycle.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported such a great cause which raised over £800 for a very worthy cause.
